Gorgeous George Egg Custard Tart

While looking for something simple I could make for an afternoon tea treat, I found a recipe from Charleston, South Carolina. The first place I ever saw tea bushes growing and outrageously good food nearly everywhere!

In the fridge, there were two discs of pie dough waiting to be made into something soI added just a couple of things to this recipe, but you could certainly do it without the fruit or vanilla. It’s just my blackberries needed to be used, so in they went.

This recipe couldn’t be any easier, especially if you’ve already done your pie dough or have a store bought one ready to go. It’s good warm, and my son wanted to experience it that way as “there were no fridges back in the day”. However, we really liked it best after it was chilled.

Tea time doesn’t have to be full of different things. A simple tart and a great cup of tea are sometimes, just right.
